Spend time outside

Simply spending time outdoors can help to increase your life expectancy. When you go outside, your skin is exposed to sunlight which triggers your body to start producing Vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential for the health of your bones and can also help in the prevention of heart disease, diabetes, depression and just about anything else you can think of that is detrimental to good health. Get outside, soak up the sunshine and the fresh air and live for longer.

Get exercising

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be able to run one of the best US marathons to be considered fit and healthy. 30 minutes of vigorous exercise for five days a week can lead to cells that are nine years younger according to one study. It doesn’t even need to be vigorous exercise – taking a 30-40-minute walk in your lunch break is enough to get the heart working, the blood pumping and your life expectancy increasing.

Have healthy relationships

Nobody is sure of the exact reasoning as to why having healthy relationships improves life expectancy. It could be because having friends and family who we are always thinking of lessens the likelihood of us taking risks. It could be because it gets us out of the house and doing activities. It could be because good relationships and laughter reduce stress. Whatever the reason, having a strong friendship circle and relationships with good and caring people increases life expectancy. Make sure you create time to spend with friend and family.

Cutting down or abstaining completely from drink and smoking can lead to huge improvements in life expectancy. Avoid risks

One of the biggest causes of death for young people alongside health related problems is accidents, injuries, and violence. Avoiding risks can help you ensure that you don’t fall victim to any of these in particular. Always wear a seatbelt, drive safely, avoid dangerous or violent situations and most important of all, look after yourself. By being cautious in day to day actions you immediately lower your risk of being involved in dangerous situations, and who knows what sort of situations you will have easily avoided by doing so.
